A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the elite 82nd Airborne Division. White was appointed by Governor Gary Johnson to lead the New Mexico Department of Public Safety and the New Mexico State Police, becoming the youngest state public safety director in the nation at age 31. He later served as sheriff of Bernalillo County (Albuquerque, New Mexico) and was appointed Albuquerque’s public safety director, overseeing both police and fire services.In addition to his law enforcement career, White has extensive media experience, including work as a crime reporter at KRQE and as the weekday host of The Darren White Show on News Radio KKOB.
